Antenatal Care
MCF is working to promote community awareness and full utilization of available maternal health services, as well as early identification of pregnancy complications. We help create and promote regular antenatal care uptake for women within the existing systems. MCF advocates with local governments and direct health systems to create mass communication campaigns and mobile health services.
Obstetric Care
We promote safe childbirth by building capacity in primary healthcare workers, skilled birth attendants and community-based health programs in rural areas. We help improve access to qualified maternal and newborn healthcare providers, and strengthen referral links with health facilities.
Newborn Health
We aim to advance and improve immediate newborn care for all babies and strengthen referral links for sick newborns. We engage community health workers in postnatal visits, home-based care and follow-up for essential newborn services including immunizations.
Psychosocial Support
MCF creates safe spaces and accountability groups in the following areas: helping women who have lost their babies through miscarriages or stillbirth; providing psychosocial support for women who have experienced gender-based violence, psychosocial support for women with reproductive system cancers; and psychoeducation on mental health issues related to pregnancy and birth. We support home-based counselling and provider-therapy.
Youth
Our agenda is to protect vulnerable adolescent girls and young women between 11 and 24 years old from unplanned pregnancies. We empower adolescent girls with decision making capabilities, identify, plan and deliver key interventions in adolescent SRHR services through education and information to ultimately reduce poverty related unplanned pregnancies.
