About Us
Maternal Care Foundation (McF) is a Tanzania based, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of women, children, youth, and families. Founded with a vision of healthier communities across Tanzania and Africa, we work at the intersection of maternal and child health, infectious diseases, health systems strengthening, non-communicable diseases, community empowerment, and climate resilience. We believe that no woman should die while giving life, no child should die from preventable causes, and no community should be left behind because of poverty, geography, or gender inequality
Our Mission
To improve health outcomes and quality of life for women, children, and families in Tanzania and Africa through innovative, community-driven, and sustainable health solutions.
Our Vision
A Tanzania — and Africa — where every mother, child, and family can live healthy, empowered, and dignified lives.
Our Values
Equity: Every person, regardless of where they live, deserves access to quality health care.
Innovation: We embrace new approaches — from digital tools to social enterprises — to solve complex health challenges. • Community-Centered: We listen to and work alongside communities to design solutions that fit their needs.
Partnership: We collaborate with government, civil society, and global partners to scale impact.
Sustainability: We build systems and models that last, empowering communities to thrive long-term.
What We Do
McF addresses the most pressing health challenges facing Tanzania and Africa today. Our six core programs include:
Maternal & Children’s Health – ensuring safe pregnancies, healthy births, and thriving children.
Infectious Diseases – tackling HIV, TB, malaria, hepatitis, and neglected tropical diseases.
Health Systems Strengthening – building stronger health workforces, digital systems, and resilient facilities.
Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) – preventing and treating cervical cancer, diabetes, and hypertension.
Community Innovation & Health Empowerment – advancing SBCC, simulation-based training, youth SRHR, and midwife-led birthing centers.
Women, Climate & Health – helping women and families adapt to climate change while protecting their health. We believe that no woman should die while giving life, no child should die from preventable causes, and no community should be left behind because of poverty, geography, or gender inequality.
Why We Exist
Despite progress, Tanzania still faces high maternal and child mortality, a rising burden of infectious and non-communicable diseases, and new threats from climate change. Women and children, particularly in rural and underprivileged communities, remain the most vulnerable.
At McF, we believe solutions must be holistic, inclusive, and sustainable. By combining evidence-based medical care with community empowerment, youth engagement, and climate resilience, we are working to build a healthier and more equitable future.
